March 25th, 2001 Fourth Sunday of Great Lent on the feast of the Annunciation

Let us Pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy.

O Lord You are an example to us of what it means to do service. You came to serve by giving up Your life as a ransom for many. You are first and great and yet You humbled Yourself and became a servant to us all. As we prepare for this final week of lent help us to persevere in our humility. Keep our ministry alive so that our works will not become dead works. As You transformed Your apostles with their weak faith so transform our weak faith. We pray that You will free us from the spirit of laziness so that we can sit with You on Your right hand when You come into Your kingdom. We pray in the name of the Father Son and Holy spirit. Amen

March 18th, 2001 Third Sunday of Great Lent on Mark 8: 34-9:1

Let us Pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy.

O Lord You have placed Your cross before us and are calling us to follow You. You gave us an example of what this means by giving up Your life for us. You tell us that in order to follow You we must deny ourselves and take up our cross. Your cross is a symbol of suffering. Help us to accept our cross as we face a life of self-denial. We do not want to lose our soul for You have prepared a place for it in Your Father's house. We promise not to be ashamed of You and Your word as we prepare for Your second coming. We pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

March 11th, 2001 Second Sunday of Great Lent on Mark 2:1-12

Let us Pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy.

O Lord our God You defeated Satan by Your death and resurrection. You have given us the possibility of becoming deified. You have the authority and power to forgive sins. You can heal us from the paralyzing effects of satanic domination. We pray that You will heal our minds so that we can be successful in overcoming our passions. May we use this lent to educate ourselves on the meaning of ascetic life. Help us to live as repentant sinners who are growing in your likeness. We pray in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit. Amen

March 4th, 2001 First Sunday of Great Lent on the Hospitality of Abraham Gen. 18: 1-33

Let us Pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy.

O Lord as You visited Abraham and Sarah bringing them Your blessing so we call upon You today to bless us with your presence. We offer You this parish church as a sign of our commitment to You. Help us to become living icons by using Your blessings to help the hungry, poor and strangers. May we show our hospitality to those in need so that by helping them we will find You. We pray in the name of the Father, son and Holy Spirit. Amen
