August 27th, Prayer of the week on a Sermon for Children

Let us Pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy.

O Lord You gave us an example of how we should care for each other when you washed your disciples feet. You not only taught the commandments but You lived by them. We pray for help to do the same so that we can be an example to the children present with us today. May the children see the light of Your holy Gospel shining in us as living temples of the Holy Spirit. We pray in the name of the Father Son and Holy spirit. Amen

August 20th, 2001 on Matt. 18: 23-35

Let us Pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy.

O Lord we are slaves of sin. We are addicted to things. We are self-indulgent. We are not seeking Your kingdom as first in our lives. We do not forgive those who have wronged us. We owe so much and we beg for Your mercy.

As You have forgiven us our debts so help us to show the same compassion on our brothers and sisters. Help us to forgive from our hearts so that we do not deprive ourselves of eternal life. We pray in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit. Amen

I will again be host of the chat room which meets on Sunday at 9 P.M. Central time. www.stlukeorthodox.com - chatroom. The topic will be this prayer or any other question or subject you may have. We will meet for one hour. Hope to chat with you then. Have an inspiring week.

August 14th, 2001 on the feast of the Transfiguration and St. Herman

Let us Pray to the Lord. Lord have Mercy.

O Lord You revealed Your glory to Your apostles by being transfigured on Mt. Tabor. You taught them that You are the fulfillment of the law and the prophets. Your face shown like the sun and the cloud of the Holy Spirit enveloped them. Your Father's voice was heard telling them and us that we should listen to You. We pray that we will remove the shoes of sin which blind us of Your divine glory and close our ears to Your call. As blessed father Herman heard Your call and saw Your glory may we take up the cross he planted in America and continue his mission. By venerating his icon and holy relics, O Lord, we pray that Your light will illumine us and we will be enveloped with Your Holy Spirit and be able to say, "It is good for us to be here." Amen.
