Current News and Events
St. Luke choir is presently preparing to sing in the Lemont Historical
Society Choir Festival on December 8. We are the only Orthodox church making a presentation.
As in the past we will be singing selections from our Nativity Vigil and Liturgy along with
a few selective hymns from the church calendar such as the Pre-feast Kontakion, The Virgin
goes Forth, Christ is Born (Byzantine First Ode), Awed by the Beauty (from the Akathist Hymn),
Simeon's Prayer (Archangelsky). We will also sing a selection of Ukrainian Christmas Carols in English.
This is the third year that we've been asked to participate in this
festival. It affords us an opportunity to witness the Orthodox Faith with our hymns. The
Historical Society of Lemont feels we present a different and unique presentation to their
program and look forward to our presentation.
