Icon Information and Education

Director of Icon Information and Education, Alexandria Lukashonak.

Name: Alexandria Lukashonak
Job: Icon Lady
Email: MatAleksandra@aol.com

I see my ministry as "Icon Lady" as a calling to help bring our church school children to a sense of reverence and love for our Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Trinity, and Saints. Approximately once a month I visit the classes with an icon. I tell about the person or event therein relating it whenever possible to the appropriate scripture or feast day and troparion, and explaining its composition. A handout is provided for the teachers and parents. Since icons are such an important part of our spiritual lives, I try to instill an appreciation and reverence for them in the children so that they may want to know more and may one day grow to use them in their prayer life. Thanks - Alexandria
