For Practicing Christianity in Every day Life
From St. Luke's Church Resource Center (CRC)
The following six books deal with one issue - boundaries in our lives. Having boundaries is essential to a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Boundaries impact all areas of our lives: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The first book handles this issue in general, while the other three books deal with specific topics.
1. Boundaries ($19)
Is your life out of control? Do people take advantage of you?
Do you have trouble-saying no? Often Christians focus so much on being loving and
unselfish that they forget their own limits and limitations. This book discusses in a
Christian way the meaning of boundaries, such that one can live a balanced life.
2. Boundaries In Marriage ($19)
Two lives becoming one: that's the marriage ideal. But may be you've
discovered that it is easier said than done. How do you solve problems? How do you
establish healthy communication? How do you work out conflict and deal with the struggle
of differing needs? That is why defining boundaries is essential even in marriage.
3. Boundaries With Kids ($13)
Setting boundaries with kids helps us give our kids the skills they
need to live realistic and full lives in meaningful relationships. This books talks
about how to:
Set limits and still be a loving parent
Bring control to an out of control family life
Define appropriate boundaries and consequences for your kids
4. Boundaries In Dating ($13)
Between singleness and marriage lies the journey of dating. Do you
want to make your road as smooth as possible? Set and maintain healthy boundaries -
boundaries that will help you grow in freedom, honesty, and self-control.
5. I kissed Dating Goodbye ($11)
Here is what a young reader of this book wrote. "I don't think I ever
read a book in which the author is more honest and real than this author. He tackles the
hard issues, the tough questions on this confusing topic of - to date or not to date.
One of the things I like the most is that the author brings the writing back to the Bible
and how we can really live what it says."
6. Living a Balanced Life in an Unbalanced World ($11)
In this book, Fr. Coniaris shows how the virtue of temperance (balance)
can lead to sane and healthy living in all areas of life. By exposing the many imbalances
in contemporary life, the author highlights the need for balance in prayer, fasting, love,
work, play, stewardship of time, talents, and possessions; balance between knowledge and
wisdom, balances between our rights and our responsibilities, balance between clergy and
laity in the Church. In all of that, first seek His Kingdom and His righteousness.
