Adult Education

Director of Adult Education, Jerry Kincaid.

Name: Jerry Kincaid
Job: Director of Adult Education
Email: RdrHerman@aol.com

"Our Adult Education ministry makes every effort to instruct our adult members on how to apply our sacred faith to daily life. Our Lord has said "I am the way, the truth and the life." These words are NOT abstract ideologies, rather they are the foundation of our ministry. Our goal is to slowly, by the grace of Christ our Lord, to become like Him in every way. That is, we are focused on transforming our life into His life of perfection. Upon the completion of our new educational facility, a number of courses will be offered throughout the year ranging from basic elements of our faith to advanced doctrine, mysticism, spirituality and Eucharistic Theology. Fr. Howard Sloan holds monthly Home Bible Studies throughout the Southwest Suburbs in an effort to bring the Word of God into the hearts and homes of our adult members. Please join us for any or all of these courses in an effort to make our faith our "way, truth and LIFE."

In Christ, Jerry

Current Events & Information

Adult Classes are on Wednesday night at 7:00 P.M. (see calendar)

The Wednesday evening course originally started as a study of Orthodox Christian Ethics and their application to our lives in this busy world. As the course matured, it moved on to read (aloud as a class) Ascending the Heights, a layman's commentary on St. John Climacus' Ladder of Divine Ascent. The class read two to three steps per class striving to finish all 30 steps by the start of the Great Fast. This was a focus on spirituality, mysticism and how Orthodox Christians in the world can begin to transform their lives towards Christ (outlined in 30 unique, yet interconnected topics). The goal was attained to finish the book two weeks before the start of the Great Fast. Plans for a summer series is presently on the drawing board.
