A BLESSING FOR OUR CHILDREN
Following Liturgy Father Paul said a prayer over all the children for the beginning of the new school year. He then blessed them with a “copious amount of Holy Water”. May God bless them in their studies… “Train up the way in which a child should go and he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
DEACON JOHN SEMINARY BOUND
This week following Liturgy we honored Deacon John as he prepares to go to St. Tikon Seminary to continue his studies. A luncheon was held in his honor. Here Fr. Paul blesses the meal.
Luncheon is served.
Fr. Paul presents gifts to the deacon’s family.
Our St. Luke Family wishes the best of everything to Deacon John and his family as he strives to do God’s work and look forward to seeing him again soon.
GARDEN CENTER VISIT FOR AUGUST
Fr. Andrew began our visit with the story of the Transfiguration. Jesus took Peter, James and John up to mount Tabor to pray. Suddenly the three men saw the appearance of Jesus change; His face shone like the sun and his clothes were as white as the purest snow with Moses and Elijah at His side. Then a bright cloud overshadowed them and a voice was heard saying, “This is my Beloved Son in Whom I am well pleased, hear Him.”
Fr. Andrew talked about the upcoming total solar eclipse. He said, “If you look directly at the eclipse without protecting your eyes, your eyes will burn.” And that the solar eclipse is created, but Jesus is an UN-created light that doesn’t hurt you. Jesus is showing us what is waiting for us in Heaven with His warm light.
Enthusiasm filled the room all evening with loud voices singing praises to God. This joy continued as everyone held their candles while praying the Lord’s Prayer.
