Deacon's Annual Report 2015

by Dn. John Segvich

Since my ordination to the Holy Diaconate on October 19, 2014, I have alternated with Pdn. Andrew and served as first deacon or second deacon during Sunday Divine Liturgy. I delivered the homily during Divine Liturgy on the Sunday after Christmas. Each week, I assist Father Andrew with Great Vespers and Matins and serve at Feast Day Services as my secular job allows.

I continue to serve as sacristan and Church School teacher. Also, I help Father Andrew and Theo with logistics and meals for our monthly Men’s Theological Forum. From time-to-time, Father Andrew asks me to assist him with various projects, including the distribution of e-communications to parish members.

Looking ahead, I would like to extend my ministry to include more charitable outreach. In particular, visiting shut-ins and the sick are all areas in which I could minister within and beyond our parish community. Leading adult catechetical classes is of interest too. My ordination has been a great blessing to my family and hopefully for our parish community of St. Luke. We are grateful for everyone’s ongoing support, prayers and patience. Serving alongside Protodn. Andrew, I continue to discover what it means to be a deacon in Christ.
